Be part of something brand new

Of course the Dutch are well-known for the way they dealt with living in a country that is below sea level. And of course the Dutch are well-known for their logistics, their financial skills, their painters and Dutch Design. And of course Dutch people are known to be direct (rude sometimes), open-minded, accurate, consensus-seekers (the famous ‘polder model’), etc. But did you know the Netherlands is the second largest exporting country of agricultural products? And that the Dutch language is number 38 on the list of 6800 spoken languages in the world? And that the Netherlands is 16th in the list of world economies based on Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and even takes 7th place in GDP per capita in nominal values? A small country, with a very high population density: that must be highly innovative to become so successful!

Almere: the newest city

Come to where the action is! Come to the youngest Dutch city, and experience Dutch innovation at hand in just one summer. Almere is the newest town in the Netherlands, the first house was finished only in 1976. Today, Almere is the fastest growing city not only in the Netherlands, but in the whole of Europe. Its development is still very much in full swing, the city is intended to be the county’s fourth largest city in 2030. Within its borders headquarters of major international companies (e.g. IBM) can be found, a centre for top sports, the architecture of the future is being developed, and an wide array of higher education institutions offering programs related to important themes for the city: the international new town institute, the university for applied sciences in agriculture, etc.
